History & Philosophy of Thai Massage

'An ancient technique with roots in mystic tradition.'

AKA; 'Nuad Boran' a Traditional Thai massage originated from India in pre 600BC  it began as an oral tradition so there is some mystery but is said to have arrived in Thailand through the spread of Buddhism as early as the 3rd Century BC. Dr Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha who was said to have treated Buddha himself. Considered in Thailand as the father of medicine. Through prayer one asks to become a medium of healing energy to channel through from Therapist and to clients, to guide ones motions and hands.

It is a tradition influenced by both Ayurveda and Yogic traditions.

Metta; Loving-kindness

The Pali word 'metta' means loving-kindness, goodwill, benevolence, fellowship, inoffensiveness and non-violence. Offering compassion and service from the heart. Metta is altruistic service of love & friendliness.

To practice Metta, one renounces bitterness, animosity of any kind, seeking instead benevolence, sweetness, and joy of others.

True Metta is free of self interest, metta gives & asks nothing in return.

"To practice mindfulness is to practice selective touching. Your happiness and suffering depend on you and the people around you. If they refrain from touching your negative seeds, if they know the art of touching the positive seeds in you, you become a happy person and your suffering will gradually be transformed by that kind of selective touching.

We learn how to touch the beauty of the sky and the autumn leaves even if pain and sorrow are still there. If it is difficult, we have to rely on the presence of a Dharma sister or brother to help us do so. If one mindful person, capable of joy and happiness, sits close to us, her energy of mindfulness and joy will support us and help restore our balance. Suddenly, with her sitting close, we are able to touch the blue sky and the colors of autumn again. I think all of us have had that kind of experience. Alone it may be difficult. But with someone beside you, solid and free, it is less difficult. We profit very much from his or her presence. If you find yourself in a desperate situation and that person is far away, you go to her, because her presence can help you restore your balance and get in touch with the positive elements that are within and around you. That is why a Sangha and a practice center are so crucial."

The Nine Prayers

May I be peaceful, happy, and light in body and spirit.

May I be free from disturbance, fear, and anxiety.

May I learn to look at myself with the eyes of understanding and of love.

May I be able to recognize and touch the seeds of joy and happiness in myself.

May I learn to identify and see the sources of anger, craving, and delusion in myself.

May I know how to nourish the seeds of joy in myself every day.

May I be able to live fresh, solid and free.

May I be free from attachment and aversion, but not be indifferent.

Hey I'm Kyle,
This is my story;

It's been scenic and often surprising road to get here, I've studied, worked - tried many different paths, picking up experiences that contribute to my practice. Plumbing, Gardening, Sport activity co-ordinator, Chef, Carer, Student Nurse, et al.

Working with people, with health, with my hands.

Learning is a wonderful kind of Alchemey...

My Experience in Massage Therapy has expanded greatly over many years, first beginning in college back in 2008. I started learning sports massage as part of my leisure and outdoor expedition BTEC. I didn't know how to run a business back then, but I've had alot of time to learn! I went on to practice deep-tissue massage and aromatherapy through reading, online courses, and practice on friends and family.

In my Nursing practice, I experienced a great deal about healthcare of people with chronic and acute conditions, Medication, Biology, Psycology, person centered care, structured intervention & hollistic approaches.

I've had some of the best tuition from Gladwell School of Massage, I've studied extensivly, practiced with more than 50 different clients. In all, I've had 100's hours of tuition & practice.

This is my pursuit for health, for leisure, to help people heal themselves. Explore methods and treatment outside the scope of increcingly typical pharmacutical interventions, and difficult to accesss health resources.

My
Philosophy;

Noblesse Oblige

"Noblesse Oblige" from French language, translates Nobel Obligation.

In 1849 the phrase commonly used, became a noun - the obligation to be honorable, generous, and responsible with power bestowed by birth. Nobility implies therefor; a need to be of virtuous pursuit, not self aggrandising. 'To be a King is to serve all, not rule.'

While I might not be of 'Nobel birth' I recognise my privileges; I have a safe, warm place to live, an education, friends, family, and I live in a fairly safe, democratic country, I have my health. I believe I have much to be grateful for.

With that in mind, if you need support or just someone to sit and have a cuppa with,  decompress.. If you're lonely or struggling to cope.

Please, pick up the phone.

I worked with both Samaritans and Marie Curie Charities and have had training, on the phone, or in person. If you have need of Healthcare professional, Mental Health Services, or Crisis support I'm happy refer you to services, don't be embarrassed to talk about anything, bodies are not to be embarrased of! I have been trained to Signpost services through my Clinical training and practice.

It's never too late to change everything.
